As for the time it takes to drive all the way around Iceland - 8 days is best suited to those who like to drive and want very much to accomplish the full circle and don't have the time to spend doing many of the activities or spending a lot of time exploring and walking on the land. These travelers will see a lot of a unique land in the shotest practial time.
At the other end, 15 days to drive the "Ring Road" gives (almost) enough time to get it all in. People who travel "in depth" never really have all the time to see all that they have discovered in a strange land like Iceland, but 15 days should give you plenty of time.with multi-night stays in some interesting places.
